Abstract:

The members of interleukin-17IL-17family consist of six ligands (IL-17A to IL-17F), and five receptors (IL-17RA to IL-17RE). Each ligand binds to the corresponding receptor complex and then exerts biological effects. IL-17 can fight extracorporeal pathogens by activating host defense pathways, promoting release of antimicrobial peptides, chemokines and pro-inflammatory cytokines. Due to the increase in the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, IL-17 has been proved to be associated with the pathogenesis of some inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The relationship between the members of IL-17 family and the pathogenesis of psoriasis were reviewed in this paper.
