Abstract: Objective: To determine the correlation between serum uric acid levels and atherosclerosis in the patients with psoriasis. Methods: The levels of serum uric acid, blood lipids, carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) and carotid plaque in 286 patients and 235 healthy controls were analyzed retrospectively. Results: The detection rate of hyperuricemia in the patients with psoriasis was 38.1%, which was higher than that in the controls (17.9%). The level of blood lipids, IMT and the positivity rate of carotid plaque in the patients with hyperuricemia were higher than those in the patients without hyperuricemia. Conclusion: Hyperuricemia in the patients with psoriasis may be associated with high level of serum lipid and atherosclerosis.
