Abstract: It is usually difficult to identify the genus and species of pathogenic fungi in chromoblastomycosis. This article reports a case of facial chromoblastomycosis caused by Cladophialophora carrionii. A 76-year-old male presented with red plaques under the left eye for more than 1 year. Biopsy showed infectious granuloma. Acid-fast staining and PAS staining were negative. Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) showed Cladophialophora carrionii. After 3 months of oral itraconazole treatment, the skin lesions basically healed, and further surgical treatment can be carried out for the remaining scars.

Key words: Cladophialophora carrionii, chromoblastomycosis, itraconazole
