Platelet-rich plasma for treating ulcers in 3 patients with leprosy

Abstract: Objective: To assess the efficacy of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP)  in the treatment of leprosy soles ulcer. 
Methods: 10-20mL autologous blood was obtained from three leprosy patients in each, and then, high-concentration platelet-rich plasma was obtained after centrifugation. The blood was injected into the tissues around foot ulcer and the ulcer surface. Results: Of 3 cases, ulcers  were curred in 2 cases and significant improvement in one (95% reduction of the foot ulcer). Conclusion: PRP therapy is a simple, safe and effective methods for treating leprosy ulcers.
