Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of 595 nm PDL combined with 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser in the treatment of ulcerated infantile hemangiomas in the diaper area. Methods: The patients with ulcerated infantile hemangiomas in the diaper area were treated. Ulcers were treated with PDL (spot diameter 7 mm,pulse width 1.5 ms,energy density 7-9 J/cm2) every week. The remaining hemangioma excluding the ulcerated portion were treated with PDL and Nd:YAG laser (PDL, spot diameter 7 mm,pulse width 6 ms,energy density 12 J/cm2; Nd:YAG pulse width 45 ms,energy density 30-40 J/cm2) at two-week intervals. Results: Thirty-two patients were collected. Ulcerative lesions in nine patients healed within one week after the first treatment and twenty-eight patients healed within two weeks following the second treatment. The remaining hemangioma in twenty-nine patients subsided by more than 60% after two to six treatments. Obvious scarring occurred in three patients with large ulcerated lesions. Conclusions: The treatment of 595 nm PDL combined 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser is effective and safe in ulcerated infantile hemangiomas in the diaper area.
