Abstract: Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics of infantile herpes zoster. Methods: Three cases of infantile herpes zoster were reported, and the cases reported in the past 10 years from database were analyzed retrospectively. Results: Twenty six cases were included, the age ranged from 74 days to 3 years old, 8 cases (30.8%) were younger than 6 months old. Of 26 cases, 12 (50%) had history of infection and exposure to VZV during pregnancy or postpartum, 7 (31.8%) had history of VZV infection or contact, 15 had symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection (60%). The lesion in infants was similar to that in the adults. There was no pain in all 26 infants. The duration was from 7 to 16 days with no postherpetic neuralgia. Conclusion: Infantile herpes zoster is associated with VZV infection during pregnancy or postpartum. The younger the age, the fewer the cases. It is often accompanied by upper respiratory tract infection. The rash is not special, the neuralgia is not obvious, and the prognosis is good.
