Clinic features and P16 expression level in the patients with Spitz nevus or malignant melanoma

Abstract: The data of 7 patients with Spitz nevus and 5 with malignant melanoma diagnosed from 2016 to 2018 was analyzed. Of 7 Spitz nevus patients, 2 were males and 5 were females. The age ranged from 9 to 36 years old with a median age of 29. The lesions were located on the upper limb in 2 patients, on the hand in 1, on the knee in 1, on the right ear in 1, on the lower leg in 1 and on the nose root in 1. Of 5 malignant melanoma patients, 1 were males and 4 were females, the age ranged from 50 to 84 years old with median age of 78 years and the lesion was on the sole of feet in 4, on the lower limb in 1. Of the 7 Spitz nevus patients, P16 was highly expressed in 5 cases, moderately expressed in 1 and lowly expressed in 1. Of the 5 cases of malignant melanoma, P16 was negative in 3 and was lowly expressed in 2.
