Abstract: Objective: To detect the expression of XIAP and Caspase-9 in condyloma acuminatum. Methods: The immunohistochemistry method was used to detect the expression of XIAP and Caspase-9 in the tissues of 72 patients with condyloma acuminatum and prepuce tissues of 20 healthy persons. Results: The positive rate of XIAP protein in condyloma acuminatum was significantly higher than that in normal prepuces (56.94% vs 15%, P<0.05), while the positive rate of Caspase-9 protein in condyloma acuminatum was lower than that in normal prepuces (37.5% vs 70%, P<0.05). There was a negative correlation between the expression of XIAP and Caspase-9 (r=-0.83 P<0.05). Conclusion: XIAP may promote the development of condyloma acuminatum by inhibiting the activity of Caspase-9. The abnormal expression of XIAP and Caspase-9 may be involved in the progression of condyloma acuminatum.
