Clinical research of 12 cases with congenital syphilis

Abstract: Objective:To analyze the clinical features of congenital syphilis(CS). Methods:The clinical data of 12 patients with CS were analyzed retrospectively. Results:The initial symptoms of 12 congenital syphilis patients included choke (3 cases), polypnea and cyanosis (2 cases), quadriplegia(1 case),xanthochromia(1 case), convulsion(1 case)and asymptom(4 cases). Hepatosplenomegaly was seen in 6 cases,anemia in 2 and rash in 2. Treponema pallidum hemagglutination assay (TPHA) test of serum samples was positive in all the 12 patients. Increase in WBC count or protein elevation or positivity of TPHA in cerebrospinal fluid were positive in11 cases. Many kinds of virus antibody-IgM were detected in the sera of 5 patients, especially EB virus.
