Epidemiology of cutaneous diseases of foot in Yangzhou city

Abstract: The foot diseases were investigated by clinical examination and a questionnaire among 2520 people (1116 males and 1404 females), including outpatients, family members and the people for health checkup. Out of 2520 people, 1738 (952 males and 786 females) were found to have skin diseases, giving a detection rate of 69.0%. The detection rates in the males and females were 85.3% and 60%, with a significant difference (P<0.05). One thousands and thirty-four patients (59.5%) were fungal infection and 332 patients (19.1%) were virus infection. Fungal and viral infections were associated with diabetes mellitus, vascular disease, strenuous exercise and foot massage history (P<0.05).
