Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of 5% minoxidil combined with 670nm + 830nm laser in the treatment of androgenic alopecia. Method: Sixty patients with androgen alopecia were enrolled and randomly divided into treatment group and control group..The control group was treated with 5% minoxidil topically and the treatment group was treated with 5% minoxidil topically and 670 nm + 830 nm laser irradiation, 30 mins/per treatment, twicely a week. The efficacy was evaluated at 6 month after the treatment. Results: Fifty-eight patients completed the study (two patients in the treatment arm were lost in follow-up). The total effective rate in the treatment group was 85.7%, which was higher than that in the control group (53.3%), with a significant difference between the two groups (χ2 = 10.02, P<0.01). The difference in side effects between the two groups was not significant (χ2 = 0, P>0.05). Conclusion: The combination of 670nm + 830nm laser and 5% minoxidil in the treatment of androgen alopecia is effective and safe.
