Clinical and pathological analysis of 22 children with pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta

Abstract: The data of 22 children with pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta (PLEVA) were retrospectively analyzed. The result showed the male to female ratio was 2.67∶1, and the average age was (8.77±2.84) years old. The lesions of diffuse type were in 18 cases (81.82%), central type were in 3 cases (13.64%), peripheral type were in 1 cases (4.55%). 16 cases (72.73%) had a history of upper respiratory or other infections. The common features of histopathology were liquefaction degeneration of basal cells to varying degrees and perivasculitis of superficial or deep dermis. All children were treated with combination therapy, including systemic use of immunoglobulin, glucocorticoid, compound glycyrrhizin, erythromycin, etc, combined with topical drugs. 20 children (90.91%) were cured.
