Epidemiological characteristics of newly detected leprosy cases in Liuzhou from 2011 to 2021

Abstract: Objective: To analyze the characteristics and epidemic trend of newly detected leprosy cases in Liuzhou from 2011 to 2021, and explore the key points of prevention and control. Methods: The detailed data of new and recurrent leprosy patients in Liuzhou from 2011 to 2021 were collected and analyzed through the National Leprosy Prevention and Management Information System ( LEPMIS). Results: A total of 19 leprosy cases were detected in Liuzhou from 2011 to 2021. The ratio of male to female was1.71∶1, and the average age of diagnosis was 49.58 years. The number of new cases was the highest in 2011,2014 and 2018, each with 4 cases, with the detection rate of 0.11/106, 0.10/106 and 0.10/106 respectively. The main method of case detection was outpatient visit, accounting for 60.45%. The average delay period was 40 months. Conclusion: Although leprosy popular is in the low level in Liuzhou, the new cases are still occurring, and the prevention and control work is still serious.
