Research progress on the assessment tools and techniques for postherpetic neuralgia

Abstract: Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is the most common complication of herpes zoster. Early assessment of acute pain plays a crucial role in reducing the incidence of PHN. This review summarizes the definition of PHN, pain assessment tools, and technical devices related to PHN, and analyzes the advantages, limitations, and application conditions of various assessment methods. The aim is to provide a reference for clinicians in the assessment and management of postherpetic neuralgia.
