Abstract: Objective: To analyse the misdiagnosis of leprosy in a low endemic situation of in Jiangsu province from 2011 to 2015. Methods: The newly diagnosed leprosy patients who were misdiagnosed were analyzed. Results: Age, classification of leprosy, disability, bacterial index, and floating population were statistically associated with misdiagnosis. Conclusions: The factors related to the misdiagnosis of patients includes small number of new cases detected, complicated clinical symptoms of leprosy, the doctors’ vigilance and low knowledge on early symptoms of leprosy among the medical staff.
