Assessment of the efficacy of red and blue light phototherapy combined with medicated mask in the treatment of mild and moderate acne.

Abstract: Objective: To assess the therapeutic effect of red and blue light phototherapy combined with medicated mask in the treatment of mild and moderate acne. Methods: Ninety six patients were divided into two groups randomly. Fifty patients in the experiment group were treated with medicated mask combined with red and blue light. Forty six patients in the control group were treated with medicated mask only. The therapeutic effect was assessed by global acne grading system (GAGS) before and after treatment. Results: The total effective rates of the experiment group and control group were 88.00% and 47.83% respectively, with a significant difference (P<0.01). There were no significant side effects in both groups. Conclusion: Red and blue light phototherapy combined with medicated mask is safe and effective in the treatment of mild and moderate acne.
