Abstract: Objective: To detect the level of anti-BP180 and 230 antibodies in the patients with neurological diseases (ND) , but without BP. Methods: The serum and clinical data of the patients with ND and healthy controls were collected. The levels of anti-BP 180, 230 antibodies and anti-basement membrane antibodies were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) respectively. Results: One hundred and thirty-one patients with ND (109 with cerebral apoplexy, 17 with brain tumors and 19 with other neurological disease) and 131 healthy controls were enrolled. Fifteen patients (11.45%) and 4 controls (3.05%) were positive for anti-BP180, NC16A antibodies, with a significant difference of P=0.009. Seven patients (5.34%) and 3 controls (2.29%) were positive for anti-BP 230 antibodies, with no significant difference (P=0.20). The anti-basement membrane antibodies were negative in the patients and healthy controls. Conclusion: The positivity rate of anti-BP180 antibodies was higher in the patients with neurological diseases, which may be associated with the pathogenesis of ND complicated with BP.
