Abstract: Objective: To report 5 cases of hidroacanthoma simplex (HS) and review the literature, and summarize the dermoscopic characteristics of HS. Methods: A literature search of HS with detailed dermoscopy data was performed on PubMed and Superstar database, and dermoscopic characteristics was analyzed. Results: The data of 24 patients with HS, including 19 cases from the literature and 5 cases that we diagnosed, was analyzed. Of 24 patients, 10 were non-pigmented HS and 14 were pigmented HS. The common dermoscopic manifestations of non-pigmented HS were polymorphous vessels (100%), including glomerular vessels (100%), and specific images of flower-likevessels (20%), leaf-likevessels (10%) and milky red areas/globular structures (30%). The common dermoscopic manifestations of pigmented HS were fine blackdots/globules (50%). Conclusion: Non-pigmented HS and pigmented HS have own  dermoscopic characteristics.
