Primary cutaneous mucinous carcinoma on the scalp: a case report

Abstract: Primary cutaneous mucinous carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor that is prone to misdiagnosis. A 74-year-old female presented with mass on the scalp which slow growth for 10 years, previously misdiagnosed as benign mass. Dermatological examination showed 4 cm×2 cm tumor resembling a gourd shape on the scalp of the vertex-occipital area. After an excisional biopsy, the pathological diagnosis was cutaneous mucinous carcinoma. Follow-up for 12 months showed no new tumors.
