Abstract: Objective: To investigate the syphilis serological detection among the inpatients in our hospital in 2017. Methods: Inpatients were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay-treponema pallidum (ELISA-TP). Then the positive samples of ELISA-TP were tested by tolulized red unheated serum test (TRUST) and treponema pallidum particle agglutination assay (TPPA). Results: Out of the 54 945 patients tested, ELISA-TP test was positive in 1625 patients. Of the 1625 positive patients,1145 were retested by TRUST and TPPA, of which both tests were positive in 172 samples, giving a positivity rate of 0.32% (172/54549). The 172 syphilis patients were distributed in 32 clinical departments. Some of them had no clinical symptoms, Conclusion: Since the infection rate of syphilis among the inpatients in our hospital is high, routine screening program for syphilis is recommended.
