Subungual squamous cell carcinoma mimic as pyogenic granuloma after trauma: a case report

Abstract: This paper describes a rare case of subungual squamous cell carcinoma with clinical manifestations highly suspected of pyogenic granuloma, which presented 1 year after trauma. The patient presented with a dark red mass under the nail at the distal end of the right thumb, with bloody exudation and dark brown scab on the surface. The patient was treated with surgical resection and was followed up for 3 months without recurrence.
