Abstract: Objective: To assess the efficacy of superficial X-ray therapy in the treatment of?basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Methods: The data of 14 patients with BCC and 13 with SCC diagnosed by biopsy and treated with superficial X-ray therapy in our hospital from June 2014 to July 2017 was analyzed retrospectively. Results: Thirty one lesions in 27 patients were disappeared. The total X-ray dose was 45.6-53.2 Gy. There was only one lesion in one SCC patient relapsed after 2 years follow-up. The adverse effects were radiodermatitis and ulceration that usually disappeared in 1 month. Conclusions: Superficial X-ray treatment is effective and has low recurrence in the treatment for BCC and SCC, which is an option for the patient who are not suitable for surgical intervention.
