Investigation of the status of 626 cured leprosy survivors in Gaoyou City

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the survival and medical status of cured?leprosy survivors in Gaoyou City.. Methods: Household?surveys?on cured?leprosy survivors were conducted, including patients' general information, living conditions, self-care ability, labor ability, subsistence allowance, medical insurance, income and disability from 2016 to 2017. Results: A total of 626 cases were investigated, including 439 males (70.13%), 610 rural households (97.44%). The average age was 74.02 years old (ranging from 42 to 91 years old). The average personal annual economic income is 5485 yuan and only 38 cases enjoyed subsistence allowance (6.07%). A total of 154 cases have different degrees of disability, and their rehabilitation needs are mainly cataract surgery, ulcer surgery, installation of prosthetics, prosthetic maintenance and provision of wheelchairs, crutches, protective shoes and so on. Conclusion: The problems of cured?leprosy survivors includes poor living condition,aging age, single source of income.
