Analysis of clinical characteristics of 7 patients with human monkeypox

Abstract: The clinical symptoms and laboratory examination data of 7 monkeypox patients admitted to Shanghai Pudong New Area People's Hospital from July to December 2023 were analyzed. The sample of rash and throat swab were positive for monkeypox virus in 7 patients. All the 7 monkeypox patients were MSM, aged from 26 to 41 years old. All patients had a history of MSM within 21 days before the onset of the disease. Six patients had the first rash on the pubic mound or genital area, and 1 patient had the first rash around the mouth and anal area. Fever occurred in 6 cases and 6 cases were accompanied by other sexually transmitted diseases. All cases were found voluntarily.
