Monkeypox: a case report

Abstract: A 29-year-old male presented with painful herpes in the penis for 4 days. Physical examination showed genital and perianal herpes, with itching, pain, and swollen lymph nodes in the groin. The patient's throat swab, herpes smear and blood samples were positive for monkeypox virus nucleic acid. The patient had a history of MSM 3 weeks before onset of illness. The diagnosis of monkeypox was made. The patient was transferred to a designated infectious disease hospital for treatment.
