Pain management of photodynamic therapy in dermatology

Abstract: Pain during photodynamic therapy treatment is related to many factors, including patient characteristics, skin lesions characteristics and various therapeutic parameters. Physician can use photosensitizers with low pain, choose new light source, change irradiance and light dose, as well as use cold air, analgesics, anesthetics to manage pain. The factors that affect the pain of photodynamic therapy and the relevant measures to reduce the pain are reviewed in this paper.
