Abstract: Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of calcipotriol in the treatment of alopecia areata systematically. Methods: The studies of calcipotriol in the treatment of alopecia areata were searched in several databases from the establishment of the database to July 30, 2021, including CBM, CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library. After evaluation of the studies by 2 independent researchers, the data were analyzed through RevMan 5.4 and Stata 15.1 software. Results: A total of 111 articles were found and 5 randomized controlled trials were included in the meta anlaysis. The results showed that the effective rate and incidence of adverse events in the calcipotriol group were 1.65 times and 2.85 times higher than that in the control group respectively, the Severity of Alopecia Tool score significantly reduced in the calcipotriol group(P<0.05). Conclusion: The efficacy of calcipotriol for the treatment of alopecia areata is highly effective, but the adverse reactions need to be considered.
