Recurrent painful erythema on the abdomen: a case report

Abstract: A 72-year-old female presented with recurrent painful erythema on the abdominal skin for 11 years. Dermatological examination showed patchy erythema and yellow-brown pigmentation spots were discovered on the abdomen, with clear boundary, slightly rough surface, without desquamation, erosion and exudation. Normal skin can be showed between skin lesions, skin temperature is slightly higher, and there is obvious tenderness and friction pain. Histopathological examination showed slight hyperkeratosis of the epidermis, focal thickening with epithelial foot elongation and fusion, increased pigment granules in the basal layer,and a little lymphocyte infiltration near the superficial dermis vessels. The diagnosis of recurrent painful erythema was made.
