Abstract: Conventional cryotherapy for periungual warts often leads to poor compliance due to pain and repeated treatments in children, and repeated treatments may also lead to nail injury. Surgery can remove macroscopic warts at one time, but it cannot destroy the latent virus, and the warts are prone to relapse. It has been reported that 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) can destroy virus. Herein, we report a child who had a 3-year history of periungual warts. The warts of the patient was surgically removed, and then given 5-ALA-PDT four times. The wound healed 21 days after the last photodynamic therapy. There was no recurrence after six months follow-up.
