Abstract: In recent years, Botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) has been used to treat headache alopecia, radiation alopecia, alopecia areata and AGA, but some scholars believe that its efficacy and safety need to be evaluated. We evaluate the efficaty and safety of BTX-A injection in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia through mata-analysis. Clinical trial studies of botulinum toxin type A for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia were researched in the Cochrane library, Pubmed, Web of Retrieved from science, EMbase, CNKI, Wanfang Database, Weipu Full-text Database of Chinese Science and Technology Journals, and China Biomedical Literature Service System from the establishment of the database to September 2022. The literature quality was evaluated by two researchers. Finally, Revman 5.3 software was used to analyze the included studies. The result showed 10 studies involving 414 patients were included. Meta-analysis showed BTX-A could increase the hair density and improve the subjective symptoms of itching, greasy, dandruff, etc. and the effect was better when combined with conventional treatment. The main adverse reaction was local pain, and no serious adverse reaction occurred.
