Investigation of depression and anxiety in the patients with psoriasis and the influence on comorbidity

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the status of depression and anxiety in the patients with psoriasis and the influence on comorbidity. Methods: One hundred and eighty-four patients with psoriasis in our hospital were investigated and evaluated by general condition questionnaire (self-designed), depression self-rating scale (SDS) and anxiety self-rating scale (SAS). Results: Of 184 patients, 113(61.41%) patients sufferred from depression or anxiety. The occurrence rates of comorbidity of cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia in the patients with depression or anxiety was higher than the patients without depression or anxiety. Conclusion: Depression or anxiety is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia in the patients with psoriasis.
